The Alta Chamber of Commerce discussed plans to join with the Buena Vista County Fair Board in organizing a parade for the 115th Annual BV County Fair in July during its monthly meeting Tuesday night.
The parade will be held on Thursday evening, July 19, and will run from the south end of Main Street past the Depot and finish at Grandma Nelson's Pantry.
"The Fair Board has discussed making space for the floats at the fairgrounds in order to have them on display over there," chamber president Joe Aube said. "We'll need a lot of help to promote and organize this, so everyone's help would be appreciated."
In another discussion, the chamber discussed improving the signs for the city.
Aube said he would like to see signs at both ends of town, telling others what the city has to offer.
"I don't think we want too much stuff on the signs because we want to be able to read them," chamber member Jan Peterson said.
The chamber discussed whether they should put the names of the city's attractions on the signs, but Aube believed the actual names could not be used.
