The Buena University golf team is sitting in seventh place after the first 36-hole round here Saturday in the 72-hole Iowa Conference championships.
The second 36-hold round will be held Friday and Saturday at the Finkbine Golf course in Iowa City.
The Beavers are in seventh place with a team total of 622 strokes. BVU shot a 296 last Friday and a 326 Saturday.
Loras College leads after the first two days of the tournament with a 290-298 - 588, just 12 over par. Wartburg is second (291-306 - 597) while Central College is third (288-311 - 599).
Loras' Pete Weber is the individual leader after the first round, carding a four under par 71-69 - 140. Nick Grossman of Central College is second (68-75 - 143) while Mike Martin of Simpson College is sitting in third with a 71-74 - 145..
Buena Vista's Alex Downing is tied for seventh individually with a 72-77 - 149, just five over par.
BVU's Wally Byrne is tied for 19th after shooting a 73-81 - 154, while Steve Campbell is tied for 20th with a 72-83- 155.
BVU's Brett Bloemendaal is in 38th place with a 79-85 - 154 and Dallas Hall is 39th with an 80-86 - 166.
Going into the final two rounds this weekend, Central's Nick Grossman is in second place with a one-under-par 143, while Mike Martin of Simpson is sitting in third place with a 145.
Wartburg's Alan Johnson and Loras' Jeffrey Dingman are tied for fourth with two over par 146's, while Luther's Mike Eisele is sixth with a four over par 148.
