'Grease' is the word at BVU this week

Three Storm Lakers among a huge cast

Rydell High School is ready for the first day of school. The Burger Palace beckons. And Greased Lightning is getting its final coat of paint.

"Grease!" is set to open in Schaller Memorial Chapel on the campus of Buena Vista University tonight, and will run through Saturday, April 30, with show times at 8 p.m.

Each night will feature a different '50s Fun Contest. One night will include a Hula-Hoop contest, another a '50s Trivia and Name That Tune contest, and on Saturday there will be a group of vintage cars parked on College Street with their owners, so you can get the true flavor of 1959.

Root beer floats served up by CommUnity Ed and Concordia School at intermission will add to the "Grease!" experience.

All tickets are reserved seating, and the cost is $3 for adults or $2 for senior citizens and non-BVU students. Call 749-2211 for ticket reservations or buy your reserved seating tickets at the door.

Three Storm Lake students have been cast in the production. They are Carolyn Friesen, wife of Byron Friesen, Storm Lake, cast as Miss Lynch in the production; Tyler Kirkholm, son of Mark and Nelda Kirkholm; and Adam Thompson, son of Douglas and Jennifer Thompson, cast as a chorus member/dancers.

The play is directed by Dr. Bethany Larson, assistant professor of theatre, and technical direction is by David Grant Walker, assistant professor of communication and performance arts at BVU. Musical direction is under Paula Keeler, assistant of music and vocal director, and Jerry Bertrand, assistant professor of music and band director.
