Jensen began his career in the fishing industry as a fishing guide, tournament angler and camp fish instructor. In these roles, he spent over 200 days annually fishing throughout the Midwest for a variety of species of fish. It was during this time he developed an interest in sharing successful fishing techniques with other anglers.

He began sharing his angling knowledge with others as an outdoor writer.
