Larry Rohret, Executive Director of Upper Des Moines Opportunity, Inc., announced that there will be a "Farewell Reception" honoring Mary Jo Madvig on Wednesday, March 23 at the Spencer Golf and Country Club from 4 to 7 p.m. The public is cordially invited to attend.
Madvig began her career with UDMO almost 25 years ago, and she has served as the Head Start/Early Head Start Director for the past 19 years. She has been a leader in the community collaboration in the building of supportive services for young children and their families. Ms. Madvig will begin working as an Education Coordinator for the Drake University Head Start Program in Des Moines.
Upper Des Moines, Inc., is a private non-profit 501(c) organization and is one of 18 Community Action Agencies throughout the State of Iowa. This service area for this agency includes Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Hamilton, Humboldt, O'Brien, Osceoloa, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, Webster and Wright counties. UDMO helps prepare young children for life-long learning experiences, helps families to become more self-sufficient, enables communities to improve, expands housing opportunities for low-income clients, and helps local governments by working in conjunction with general relief offices and other collaborative agencies to provide emergency assistance programs and services to residents in need.
