Congressman Steve King gets chamber award

Monday, March 14, 2005

Iowa Congressman Steve King March 10 received the "Spirit of Enterprise" Award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for his strong support of economic growth.

The U.S. Chamber gives the award to members of Congress for supporting pro-business efforts, including tax reform, trade, and legal reform. This is the 17th years the Chamber has given this award.

"It's our duty to support those who create jobs and contribute to the economic growth of America," said King. "The best way government can do that is by fostering an environment that is rich in opportunities for business growth and then get out of the way."

"It is critical to have members of Congress fighting for American business and their employees at this time of economic expansion and opportunity," said Thomas J. Donohue, Chamber president and CEO.

"Steve King is a leader who has voted time and again to create jobs, improve our domestic security, and promote economic expansion."
