The Northwestern Area Training Academy, in cooperation with the Iowa Central Community College and the Region V Hazardous Materials Commission, will be offering a series of free courses.
The first session is designed to help give current and future fire department leaders the knowledge and confidence to guide their department into the future.
During the first session, instruction will be given with the help of the State Fire Marshal Division and the Department of Public Safety. Course topics to be covered at this workshop will include Statutory Obligations of an Iowa Fire Chief; Overview of the Department of Public Safety; Overview of the Fire Marshal Division; Fire and Emergency Response Council; Fire Reporting Requirements (NFIRS); Fire Service Training Bureau and Volunteer Firefighter Training Fund.
There is no charge for the workshop and lunch will be provided, thanks to a grant from the Region V Hazardous Materials Commission.
The first class will be held Saturday, Feb. 24, in Conference Room 1 of the Voc-Tech building on the Fort Dodge campus of Iowa Central Community College. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the workshop will be held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Topics for future workshops will also be discussed during this course.
