Kitchen Solvers: hot new faces for old kitchens

Tuesday, February 13, 2001

When Shannon Kelly began building furniture and helping friends remodel their kitchens and their bathrooms, he didn't expect to become an owner of a national franchising company that specializes in custom cabinet refacing and kitchen remodeling.

"I didn't have a life goal of being my own boss," Shannon said. "I do however, enjoy what I do."

Kelly and his wife, Michele, saw an ad in the Storm Lake paper for a position within Kitchen Solvers and looked into all that the job would entail. The couple felt with Shannon's love for woodworking, the job would be a perfect fit.

Shannon purchased his Kitchen Solvers franchise outlet in August of 1992 and says he couldn't be more pleased with how things have gone.

"I thought the protection of the franchise would be nice," Shannon said. "Through the franchise we have access to a lot of quality products and have a lot of backing and support."

Kitchen Solvers was founded by Gerald and Betty Baldner as a home based business in 1982. In 1984 the Baldners established the franchise division of Kitchen Solvers with the first outlet opening in Whitewater, WI.
