County Engineer Jon Ites appeared before the Alta City Council this week to give an update on the West Highway improvement project planned for 2002.
"There have been a couple changes so I wanted to come and share them with you and recommend that you resubmit the funding application to assist in paying for changes in the plan since the original application," Ites said.
The one-mile project within the corporate limits is now expected to cost $320,000 with drainage improvements that have been added. The project has been approved for 60 percent funding through a Region III TEA 21 grant in the amount of $129,300.
The council approved the reapplication for the West Highway Region III TEA 21 grant. The funding application has a March 2. Ites and the council will go over further plans during the March meeting.
