Planning for the future of the Alta school district continued this week with the third meeting of the Facilities Study Committee.
The Committee is focusing on what students should learn now and in the future.
The committee members continued their discussion on the availability of certain features such as handicapped accessibility, access to technology and space for displaying student work. The members rated the importance of those features by determining their strengths and priorities.
"We talked about the different needs the community could see as well as the different strengths and priorities," school board president Wes Holmes said. "We tried to break it down to see what our priorities are and if we're looking at things that may not be our priority."
The committee broke down into sub-committees or three groups in order to better access the needs of everyone. The first group will look at kindergarten through 3rd grade, the second group will look at 4th grade through 8th grade and the third group will look at 9th through 12th grade.
Each group set up a time with superintendent Fred Maharry to tour the district's facilities as they begin to access each facilities needs. The tours will be open to the public so anyone wishing to tour the facilities are welcome to do so. The tours will begin the middle of this month.
