'BV Medical Center' a possibility, as hospital's no longer limited to 'county'.
Buena Vista County Hospital continues to move toward a possible name change as it reviews its mission for the future, with a good chance that a new identity may be announced in March or April.
The leading candidate for the new name is "Buena Vista Regional Medical Center," according to administrator Jim Sinek, although no decision has been finalized.
"There are a multitude of things that go along with the planning, and the name is just one component. We have been looking at our mission statement, our vision statement and our guiding principles - all of the things that define the conscience and core of an organization," Sinek said.
In the health industry today, it is crucial to make sure that facilities keep up with rapid change, and that they provide services and programs that a changing community wants and needs, he said. The name change is one way BVCH may express that effort to the entire surrounding community.
As the hospital reaches its 50th anniversary this March, the new name as suggested could for the first time eliminate the "county" as part of the hospital's moniker.
