Marketlink receives President's Award

Marketlink's Storm Lake call center has earned the company's 2004 President's Award for outstanding performance in meeting sales and quality goals.

"We are delighted that our 55 employees have achieved such strong results for our customers in 2004," said John M. Miksich, Marketlink president, Thursday, Jan. 20 at the Storm Lake call center.

"You folks are number one," Miksich said. Miksich recognizes employee efforts in achieving sales goals and quality of conversations on the telephone. "Whether you get a sale or don't get a sale we're looking for quality," Miksich said.

Miksich glowingly praised the Storm Lake center for achieving its client goal 73 percent of the time. He also recognized Marketlink employees for a quality goal of 19.2, surpassing its goal of 19.0.

Miksich said surpassing goal provided "lots of statistical evidence that things have gone in the right direction." That was why Storm Lake received the President's Award, a coveted achievement.

"This is special," said Miksich. "It only happens once a year."

Center Director Bob Beaman added, "We certainly attribute a large part of our success to the quality of the workforce in the Storm Lake area. We have a great team of employees who are competitive and thrive on being successful."

"This award is more special than any award that we've had," Beaman said. A four-year Marketlink veteran, Beaman said the Storm Lake call center had gone from 25 to 55 representatives since May and still surpassed goal. "It's beyond belief," said Beaman. "It's beyond expectations. No one has been beyond 70 percent of goal."

Beaman said the end is not yet in sight of job growth at the Storm Lake call center.

"We're still growing the team," Beaman said. "We're going to try to staff it to fit the growth as we go. You've done an outstanding job."

Beaman said of Marketlink's three call centers-Storm Lake, Fairmont, Minn., and Des Moines-Storm Lake was recognized for performance and quality. Beaman said that was particularly significant considering that the Storm Lake call center had doubled in size since May.

Terri Woodall, a telephone sales representative, was also named Marketlink Valuable Performer of the year at the Storm Lake call center Jan. 20. Each year, an outstanding employee from each of the four marketlink call centers is named. The criteria to determine the winner are based on sales,quality, attendance, availability, and manageability.

Bob Beaman, sales director, said, "Terri also won the MVP Award in 2002. She is a valued employee and we are proud to have her on our team in Storm Lake."

The Storm Lake center specializes in telephone sales of cable television services to cable subscribers across the country. The center operates from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and offers a variety of work schedules. Full-time employees earn an average of $9.25 per hour plus benefits.
