SLHS Swing Show Jan. 29 at South Auditorium

Monday, January 24, 2005

The Storm Lake High School Swing Show will be held at South Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 29. This annual event is an opportunity to hear the high-school and middle-school students perform jazz and popular tunes in a more relaxed atmosphere.

Featured groups will be the Middle School Jazz Band, HS Jazz Choir, Jazz Orchestra, and the High School Jazz Ensemble.

Some hot sax licks on Blues at Drury, a really swinging vibes duet feature, a men's quartet singing tunes like the classic Silhouette, vocal solos, and pop tunes from Aladdin and Phantom of the Opera from the strings are featured on the program. Many more jazz and popular music composers of the 20th century will have their music recreated for your enjoyment at this performance. This evening of lighter music gives the students a chance to show their talent outside of the normal box and an opportunity for our audience to have more comfortable seats in a more social atmosphere.

Tickets are available at the door with adults $4 and students $3.

Student passes will not be honored. Income will help fund student expenses for the All-State Music Festival.
