Despite 18 points from sophomore point guard Abby Richardson, the St. Mary's girls basketball team dropped a 64-33 decision here Saturday night to Sac City, state-ranked in Class 1A.
Richardson was four of nine from two points range, made three of four three-pointers and was one of two from the free throw line.
"I thought we did an excellent job of taking away the three-point options for (Sac City)," said St. Mary's girls basketball coach Ryan Berg. "We didn't allow their press to cause us much trouble either. I think if we would have been a little more patient offensively, we could have made the game much closer."
Colleen Smith added six points for the Lady Panthers while sophomore center Janie Imming added five to go along with a team-high six rebounds.
Sac City had more shot attempts than St. Mary's, a key factor in the game. The Indians made 25 of 54 field goals while the Lady Panthers made just 12 in 30 attempts.
