Blown glass, kayaking and bagpipes in Sanford events
The Sanford Museum Association has a variety of programs scheduled:
* Bogenrief's Leaded Glass Windows will be February 12 at 7:30 p.m. Mark Bogenrief will present the process of creating the windows and the history of his studios.
* Paddling Iowa will be held March 12 at 7:30 p.m. Nate Hoogeveen, a first-time author and LeMars native, paddled 1,800 river miles to research his guidebook, Paddling Iowa. Enjoy a slide show of Iowa waterway scenery.
* Music & Lore of the Bagpipe with John Michael Hughes April 2 at 7:30 p.m. The 20-year musical veteran travels the Midwest playing his 100 year old bagpipe made of elk hide and telling the history of Irish music.
Powder Up with BV ski clinic Jan. 24
Buena Vista County Conservation Board is sponsoring a public cross-country ski clinic to be held Saturday, January 22 from 10 to 12 a.m. at the Buena Vista County Park west of Linn Grove.
Cross-country skiing is a great cardiovascular workout and a fun way to spend time with family and friends. There will be a $5 charge per person to cover equipment rental. If you have your own skis, the clinic is free. To participate you must preregister by calling the naturalist at 749-2563 by noon on Friday, January 21 as ski and shoe size are varied, but limited to available stock.
