The Storm Lake City Council entered into an agreement with Kuehl and Payer for engineering services on the expansion of the LakeTrail recreation path from Hudson Street to the Circle Park area.
The project will replace the current 4-foot sidewalk with an 8-foot sidewalk along that path, as well as add sidewalk by Circle Park to connect it with the sidewalk on Grand Avenue.
The city received a grant from the Iowa Department of Transportation to help fund the project. The total project is estimated at $110,000, with approximately $88,000 being fund through the grant. The city will match that with $22,000. Engineering costs to Kuehl and Payer are additional and will cost $15,600.
Yarosevich said the city hopes to bid the project this summer and have construction begin later in the fall.
