BVU professor condenses millions of years into three-week Ultimate History course

Tuesday, February 6, 2001

There was only one person parading around BVU in mid-January wearing their finest Hawaiian print shirt.

That would be Physics Professor Steve Tonsfeldt. In case you're wondering, there is reasoning behind his apparent madness.

You see, in Professor Tonsfeldt's Ultimate History Course, it's theme day. The next logical question might be, why is a physics professor even teaching a history course?

"They found out the first day that I'm not a historian or biologist," he grins. Tonsfeldt considers himself somewhat of a generalist. He looks like he belongs on Hawaii Five-O.

What is the theme of the day? Isolated Island evolution. He admits, although he was shameless in it's promotion, tropical theme day was not entirely successful.

Wrong season.

The subject of the class however is a hit. This is where science and history meet, you throw religion into the mix and class discussions could be real barn-burners.
