The Storm Lake City Council gave tentative approval Monday for plans to remodel the Chautauqua Park Shelter House at a cost of $190,000.
The city has been working with the Paxton Family Trust for over a year now on plans to fix up the park shelter. The Trust helped fund a study as well as plans and specifications for the remodeling project.
Council members were hesitant yesterday to authorize proceeding with the project, however, when it learned the city would solely fund the project.
"This project was hoped to be completed with the help of the Paxton Family Trust but at this time it does not appear that it will happen," states a staff summary to the council members.
