Thursday, January 13, 2005

Santa's Castle in Storm Lake completed its holiday run with 8,500 visitors for the season, including over 1,500 who visited the Storm Lake animated exhibit during the first four days it was open.

Visitors came from 35 states in addition to Mexico, Japan, Thailand, Australia, and China.

There was also a total of 48 school groups that toured the facility this year.

Santa's Castle was open for 150 hours this season, with over 600 volunteer hours logged in operating the attraction.

Santa's Castle is continually in need of volunteers during the holiday season as well as assistance with upkeep and maintenance of the building itself. Donations are always welcome and are needed to help upgrade exhibits and for decorating.

Those who wish to donate time or money to Santa's Castle may contact the Storm Lake Chamber of Commerce at 712-732-3780. The chamber is located at 119 W. Sixth St. in Storm Lake.
