The Lakes Art Center of Okoboji is pleased to announce Frank Lloyd Wright's Architectural Art: SAMARA and Colored Building Renditions. The show runs now through Saturday, Jan. 29.
This exhibit focuses on SAMARA, one of Wright's Usonian homes located in Lafayette, Indiana. Included are blueprints, furniture and decorative items from SAMARA. Color renderings for other projects by the famed designer will also be included.
The name SAMARA was given to the Christian home by Wright, and it means winged seeds, like those that come out of a pinecone. The property was landscaped according to Wright's plans and included many pine trees.
Wright designed every aspect of SAMARA including masonry, furniture, textiles, entrance gate, lighting, utilities, and landscaping.
The exhibit is free.
