An unknown vehicle collided with Christopher Persoon's garage door in the alley of 117 Oneida Street and left the scene on Saturday between 7 a.m. and 1:44 p.m. Damage was estimated at $600 to the garage door.
An accident happened in the 600 block of West 5th Street shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday. A 1992 Pontiac, driven by Norma Cazares-Garcia, 26, Storm Lake, was leaving a driveway when the car slid into the south lane shoulder and struck a no parking sign owned by the city. Damages were estimated at $200 to the Cazares-Garcia vehicle and $100 to the road sign.
Sometime between Jan. 22 and Jan. 28, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., a hit and run accident occurred in the 500 block of Erie Street. A 1999 Pontiac, owned by Vault Trust and GMAC, Hunt Valley, Md., was parked on Erie Street when an unknown vehicle struck it and left the scene. Damage to the Vault Trust and GMAC vehicle was estimated at $500.
An accident happened shortly before 12:45 p.m. Sunday on Lake Avenue, 40 foot north of 10th Street. A 1994 Chevy, driven by Donald Fitzpatrick, 38, 406 Michigan Street, Storm Lake, was northbound on Lake Avenue, stopped for a turning motorist. A 1989 Lincoln, driven by Aaron Fahrmann, 19, Cylinder, was stopped northbound behind the Fitzpatrick vehicle. A 2000 Dodge, driven by Jason McChesney, 25, 613 1/2 Ontario Street, Storm Lake, traveling northbound, collided with the rear bumper of the Fahrmann vehicle. McChesney was charged with Failure to Stop Within Assured Distance. Damages were estimated at $2,000 to the McChesney vehicle, $2,200 to the Fahrmann vehicle and none to the Fitzpatrick vehicle.
On Saturday, the One Stop Shop, 1101 Lake Avenue Storm Lake, reported the theft of gasoline valued at $5.13 from the business.
On Friday, Hector Chaparro, Storm Lake, reported a hole to his kitchen window screen at his resident, 1712 Tulip Lane. Damage was estimated at $30.
Alex Kazos, 519 West Lakeshore Drive, Storm Lake, reported the back window of his vehicle damaged while parked at 416 Otsego Street on Sunday. Damage was estimated at $500.
William Crumbaugh, Aurelia, reported a burglary to his vehicle while parked in the 800 block of Ontario Street in Storm Lake on Sunday. Entry was gained by breaking a window. Stolen from the vehicle were a CD car stereo, 176 CDs, two CD cases, a cellular phone and case, a camera, sunglasses, a class ring, various items of clothing, a back pack and cologne. Damage to the vehicle window was estimated at $250 and value of the stolen items was estimated at $3,898.
