Sac City High School featured on 'Living in Iowa' in area native's broadcast debut

Thursday, February 1, 2001

The Sac City High School will be featured in an upcoming Iowa Public Television "Living in Iowa" program.

The program, a joint venture between The Des Moines Register and IPTV, have produced a series of special reports focusing on education in Iowa.

Marathon native Jennifer Dukes Lee, 29, and a reporter for the Register, traveled to Sac City with IPTV to show how one school district will cope with the retirement of three veteran teachers.

Iowa faces a teacher shortage over the next few years, in part, because of a wave of teacher retirements. The Sac City teachers featured in this program are Larry Sorensen and Roger Ring .

Dukes Lee will also narrate the television story and the series will include feature stories from the Feb. 4 through Feb. 11 issues of the Register.

The program will air on Friday, Feb. 9 at 8:30 p.m. and again on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m. on cable television channel 11 in the Storm Lake and Alta areas.
