A New York film company is considering Storm Lake as a site for a four-part special on immigration and diversity issues to be filmed this year to air nationally on public broadcasting system stations.

Filmmaker Melissa Campbell, a former NBC broadcaster now with Roja Productions, is in the process of researching Storm Lake, and she said she is excited with what she is finding. She hopes to spend a week in the city with a crew to do preliminary interviews and visits.

"Most of the national news on immigration seems to center on the coasts, but we want to explore the impact of the change immigration has brought to places like Storm Lake, what diversity brings to the general culture of a town, " Campbell said.
