Scholarship honors memory of Galva farmer

Tuesday, January 30, 2001

A new scholarship has been named for students at Iowa Lakes Community College in memory of a farmer from Northwest Iowa.

The Tim Higgins Memorial Scholarship will aid a student planning to enroll in an Iowa Lakes Community College agricultural program. Mr. Higgins had been a farmer since 1985 in the Galva area prior to a fatal accident.

His wife Teri, father John and his brothers Paul and Jim are establishing this scholarship to not only honor Tim's memory, but to show his love for farming - what he felt was "a great way of life." It is also Tim's chance to give back to agriculture by providing an opportunity for an Iowa Lakes Community College student to further his/her education.

For scholarship information, contact Tammy Higgins at 800-252-5664, ext. 491.
