Mr. and Mrs. Gabriel Prescott
Shelly Heinen and Gabriel Prescott exchanged wedding vows in a double ring ceremony on Saturday July 31 at 2 p.m. at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in McPherson, Kan., with Father Paul Oborny officiating. Parents of the couple are Dale and Jeannie Heinen of McPherson, Kan., Glen and Susan McCannon of Aurelia, and Kenneth Prescott of Liberal, Kan.
The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father. She wore a lovely ivory satin gown with a chapel-length train accented with beaded Venice lace. She carried a bouquet of ivory roses and purple static, entwined with her late grandmother's pearls.
Her maid of honor was Ann Sherry of Shawnee, Kan., a friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Shayna McElwain of Manhattan, Ks., and Courtney Flaherty of Sioux City, friends of the bride and Abby Heiman of Pratt, Ks., cousin of the bride. The attendants wore a two-piece gown in deep plum satin, featuring a halter-top and a long, straight skirt. They carried a single Calla Lily. Junior bride was Haley Mills of Derby, Kan., a friend of the bride. She wore an ivory satin dress similar to the bride's dress and carried a bouquet similar to the bride's. Flower girl was McKenzie Becker of McPherson, Kan., also a friend of the bride. She wore a long sundress of deep plum satin and carried a basket of rose petals.
The groom wore a black tuxedo with an ivory shirt and vest. His boutonniere was an ivory rose and purple static.
His best man was John Grundmeier of Minneapolis, Minn., a friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Bill Dahna of Kingsley, Adam Todd, of Cedar Falls, friends of the groom, and Jared Heinen of McPherson, Kan., brother of the bride.The attendants wore black tuxedos with an ivory shirt and black vest. Their boutonniere was an ivory rose. Junior groom was Kyle Niehues, of Parkville, Mo., cousin of the bride. He wore a tuxedo similar to the groom's. The ring bearer was Dean Jenness, of Marcus. cousin of the groom. He wore a black tuxedo like the groomsmen and carried a hand-made teddy bear that carried the rings.
Kyle Heinen of Long Island, N.Y. and Justin Heinen of Plattsmouth, Neb., cousins of the bride and. John McCannon of LeMars, and Matt Gilbertson, of St. Louis, Mo., cousins of the groom were ushers.
Candle lighters were Shawnae' Allen of Manhattan, Kan., and Toni Floyd of Topeka, Kan., cousins of the bride.
The organist and pianist for the ceremony was Merrill Reese from McPherson Kan. The violinist was Justin Becker from McPherson, Kan., and the singers were Kelli Hake and Merrill Reese.
Guest book attendants were Betsy Graff and Ali Karpuk, both of Sioux City.
A reception was held at the St. Joseph's Parish Hall, where the bride and groom opened their gifts with the help of Abby Schmidt, Katie Edwards, and Susan Ivye. A buffet supper was served to the guests followed by a dance. Host and hostess of the reception were Ken and Judy Becker of McPherson, Kan. friends of the bride, and Eric and Jennifer Matson, of Parkville, Mo., cousins of the bride.
Special guest were the couple's grandparents Clarence and Irene Heinen of Axtell, Kan. and Merritt and Velma Jenness of Marcus.
The bride is a graduate of McPherson High School in McPherson, Kan. The groom is a graduate of Aurelia High School in Aurelia. Both graduated from Briar Cliff University of Sioux City in May 2004. The bride has a degree in Sports Science and is currently working as a Pharmacy Technician in Shawnee, Ks. The groom has a degree in Sports Management and is currently working as a customer Service Manager at the Hen House Grocery Store in Shawnee, Ks. After a wedding trip to San Diego, Ca. they have made their home in Shawnee, Kan.
