It was hard for Aurelia coach Myron Radke to muster much enthusiasm for the Bulldogs' 54-0 rout of Spalding Catholic here Friday night.
Radke was still thinking about last week's loss to Remsen-St. Mary's that knocked Aurelia out of the playoffs.
"We just weren't used to playing at that level and our weak schedule to start the season might have been a factor," he said.
Neverthless, Aurelia quarterback Tyler Nelson threw touchdown passes of 40-, 4-, 37- and 10-yards in the win over Granville Spalding.
It was a great way to go out for the senior, two-year starter at quarterback for the Bulldogs.
"Tyler had an outstanding game," Radke said. "It was good to see him play well. We had a young group of kids this year and they had a pretty good season."
Nelson was eight of ten in passing for 175 yards and Aurelia rang up 148 yards rushing on 35 carries.
Meanwhile, the Bulldog defense had its way all night, as it limited Granville-Spalding to 22 yards rushing on 30 attempts and just 26-yards passing.
Josh Bechtel caught two touchdown passes totaling 50 yards while Matt Berg caught three balls for 62 yards and Tim Fordyce made two catches for 54 yards and a touchdown.
