Pirates finish perfect 9-0 season with 36-0 shutout of Wall Lake View Auburn

The Pirates of Galva-Holstein turned the tables on the Wolverines of Wall Lake View Auburn Friday night when they won at home 36-0.

An outstanding performance by Grant Nobles of Galva-Holstein who had 117 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns, one from 54 yards out, led the Pirates to their perfect 9-0 season.

The Pirates first scored on a Kelly Otto pass to Keith Hustedt who scored with six minutes left. A Grant Nobles 2-point conversion made it 8-0, Galva-Holstein.

There was a hint that the Wolverines could come back when Holstein fumbled and the Wolverines recovered before the end of the quarter, but the Pirates held the Wolverine offense.

Otto scored on a keeper to make it 14-0 in the second quarter then Evan Platt chipped in another 2 points on the conversion.

Probably the most dramatic play of he game came when Nobles scored on a 54-yard touchdown run with 3:30 remaining in the first half to make it 22-0, Galva-Holstein.

With just a minute left, Nobles scored again on a 4-yard run to make it 28-0, Galva-Holstein.

In the third period, David Doxtad scored to make it 34-0, Galva-Holstein, with seven minutes remaining. The conversion was good to make it 36-0, Pirates.

With the spread at least 35 points, the clock kept rolling, so all the Pirates had to do was maintain their field position to win it 36-0.

The Wolverines were held to 64 yards offense compared to 333 yards for the Pirates.
