Sixth man charged in Waterloo shooting; $1 million bond

Monday, November 1, 2004

A sixth man has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a woman at party earlier this month.

Shawn Washington, 26, of Waterloo, was charged Wednesday in the Oct. 10 death of Thyanna Parsons, 23, also of Waterloo, Capt. Bruce Arends said. Washington was arrested at a truck stop in Evansdale without incident, Arends said.

Investigators said the shooting happened at a house while people were standing outside during the party. Parsons was inside and was hit by a bullet and killed, police said.

Also charged with murder are Joseph James Washington, 21, Damean Darmount Spates, 27, Christopher Deangila Spates, 27, Richardious Martivis Spates, 22, and Dorondis Davaris Cooper, 18, all of Waterloo.

Shawn Washington was being held Thursday in the Black Hawk County jail under $1 million bond.
