MOVILLE - Ben Strandberg and Martin Banuelos won both of their matches by pin to help lead Storm Lake in a double dual against Woodbury Central and MOC-Floyd Valley on Tuesday night at Moville.
Storm Lake fell to Woodbury Central 48-27 and tied with MOC-Floyd Valley 34-34.
In the first dual, Strandberg won by pin in 2 minutes, 27 seconds at 189 pounds. Banuelos won by pin in 1:32 at 275. Al Keller also won by pin in 5:52 at 160 pounds.
Matt Gervais won by technical fall 16-1 at 140 and Matt Nitchals won by major decision 13-1 at 215 pounds.
Strandberg won by pin in 1:39 in the dual against MOC-Floyd Valley. Banuelos won by pin in 45 seconds and Nic Wiley was a winner by pin in 59 seconds at 112 pounds. That win allowed Storm Lake to tie the match.
Gervais won by decision 5-1, while Jared Ponsor was a winner by major decision 11-0 at 152 pounds. Keller won by technical fall 17-2 and Nitchals prevailed by major decision 11-3 at 215.
"We had some individuals who really wrestled well for us," Storm Lake coach Ty Seaman said. "Al Keller, Matt Nitchals and Martin Banuelos had great nights. We struggled to put a full meet together, but we aren't giving up on anyone and hope to improve Saturday."
Storm Lake wrestles in the Lakes Conference tournament this Saturday in Spirit Lake.
