SL girls edge Manson in close game

STORM LAKE - Billie Blanchard's turnaround jumper in the lane with 12 seconds remaining gave Storm Lake a 47-45 win over Manson Northwest Webster Tuesday night at Tornado Fieldhouse.

Storm Lake, now 3-11 overall, led 13-6 after the first quarter, 24-20 at halftime and 33-32 after three periods.

Molly Daniels and Jenny Woodford scored nine points apiece to lead Storm Lake. Malay Bouaphakeo had eight points. Lindsey Fredricksen led the Tornadoes in rebounding with five. Brooke Overturf had four.

Daniels charted three assists, while Bouaphakeo and Woodford added two apiece. Daniels and Fredricksen tallied three steals each.

Storm Lake was 19 of 60 from the field for 32 percent.

"It sure is fun when you are ahead when that buzzer goes off," Storm Lake coach Stacey VanDerSloot said. "We came out in the second half and played more aggressive. Our 3-point shooting kept us in the game in the second half."

Storm Lake was 4 of 9 from 3-point range. Daniels made three and Woodford one.
