Updates from the Storm Lake Police Department and the Buena Vista County Sheriff's Office.

ACCIDENTS

An accident happened in the 200 block of West Milwaukee Avenue shortly before 4:45 p.m. last Thursday. A 1992 Dodge, driven by Nazario Flores-Gomez, 43, 718 Walnut Street, Storm Lake, entered onto West Milwaukee Street from a business driveway when a 1999 Ford, driven by Jon Wacha, 27, 401 East Milwaukee Avenue, Storm Lake, was westbound on West Milwaukee Avenue and the vehicles collided. Flores-Gomez was charged with Fail to Yield from Driveway. Damage was estimated at $1,500 to the Flores-Gomez vehicle and $2,200 to the Wacha vehicle.

An accident happened shortly before noon last Thursday at the intersection of East 4th Street and Oneida Street. A 1993 Chevy, driven by Jeanette Waterman, 61, 534 Hudson Street, Storm Lake, was westbound on West 4th Street. A 1991 Buick, driven by Joann Boettcher, 66, 621 East Lakeshore Drive, Storm Lake, was southbound on Oneida Street and the vehicles collided. Damage was estimated at $150 to the Waterman vehicle and $500 to the Boettcher vehicle.

A hit and run accident happened between the hours of 12 and 3:30 p.m. on Friday in the IBP parking lot, 300 Flindt Drive, Storm Lake. A 1997 Honda, owned by Sinthou Chanchome, 515 Superior Street, Storm Lake, was parked in the parking lot when it was struck by an unknown vehicle which left the scene. Damage was estimated at $500 to the Chanchome vehicle.

BURGLARY

On Saturday, Frank Kelly, 711 Geneseo Street, Apartment 1, Storm Lake, reported a burglary to his apartment. Entry was gained by forcing a door window and screen. Taken from the apartment were 100 video tapes, eight CDs and a cordless telephone. Value of the stolen items was estimated at $1,100. A hit and run accident occurred in the IOCO parking lot, 1201 East Lakeshore Drive, shortly after midnight Saturday. A 1998 Ford, owned by Tracy Carlson, Alta, was parked in the parking lot when it was struck by an unknown vehicle which left the scene. Damage was estimated at $600 to the Carlson vehicle.

An accident happened in the Kum and Go parking lot, 825 Flindt Drive shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday. A 1993 Chevy, owned by Keith Pace, Alta, was parked in the parking lot when a 1995 Ford, driven by Joni Hubers, 21, Sioux Center, was backing up and struck the Pace vehicle. Damage was estimated at $150 to the Pace vehicle and none to the Hubers vehicle.

VANDALISM

Christopher Jennings of Champaign, Ill., reported damage to the window, mirror and taillight of his vehicle while it was parked at 127 Lake Avenue in Storm Lake last Friday. Damage was estimated at $639.
