The Storm Lake Middle School will host a special, live theatre presentation of the Education Touring Theatre's program, "The Turn of the Century Showcase" on Thursday, Feb. 1. The performance will be given at 8:30 a.m. and again at 9:15 a.m.
Styled as an old-time Vaudeville show, "Showcase" celebrates the dawn of the 20th century in America. The performance will feature the incomparable humor of Mark Twain, the dynamic oratory of Teddy Roosevelt and the moving poetry of Paul Laurence Dunbar. This unique, one-man presentation will be performed by professional actor Neil Spencer.
Spencer has been acting professionally since 1979. In addition to his work with the Educational Touring Theatre, his credits include performances for Tacoma Actors Guild, The Guthrie Theatre, CLIMB Theatre and the Horse Cave Theatre. While a member of the professional acting company at the Science Museum of Minnesota, Spencer gave over 1,300 performances from a 20 role repertoire. He is a member of the Actor's Equity Association, which is the union of professional actors and stage managers.
