Progress continues on the home being built on West Highway south of Alta.
The home is being built by the Building Trades class through the League of Schools and has reached the half-way point in its completion.
Thirty-four students are taking the Building Trades class this year. Twenty-two of them have been working in the morning session and twelve of them have been working during the afternoon.
The students are from five different school systems and come from Alta, Storm Lake, Sioux Rapids, Schaller-Crestland and Newell-Fonda.
"We're on our way to sheet rocking," Building Trades instructor Kim Piercy said. "We're better than half way done with our part of it."
The students have most of the electrical work in place and will soon begin plumbing in the basement.
"Once the weather breaks up, we'll get back outside and clean up some of the ragged stuff," Piercy said. "We'll do some work on the garage roof and put the ridge vent on and trim up some of the shingles that look kind of ragged right now."
