Graveside services for Ann Oviatt, 77, of Indianola, who died Monday, October 4 at the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines of cancer, will be held Friday, October 8 at 1 p.m. in the St Mary's Cemetery, Storm Lake. Visitation will be held 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 7, at Overton Funeral Home where the family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be designated, on behalf of Grandson, Jason Sorensen, to Story County Community Life Program, 104 South Hazel, Ames, IA. 50010.
She was born in Alta and had lived in Pomeroy, Barnum, Kellerton, Norwalk and Storm Lake before moving to Indianola two years ago. She was a homemaker and had also taught elementary education many years ago. She enjoyed playing bridge unless the Cubs were playing ball. She also enjoyed each and every one of her grandchildren. Ann was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Indianola.
Ann is survived by her children, William (Rhonda) Oviatt of Winterset, Daniel (Susan) Oviatt of Grand Junction, CO., Jane (Calvin) Sorensen of Pioneer, Mary (Gary) Pennington of Norwalk, James (Lori) Oviatt of Carnation, WA., Jean (Steve) Kinyon of Afton; brother, William Toohey of Storm Lake; sister, Mary Berniece Rian of Tucson, AZ; 22 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Oviatt; grandson, Eric Oviatt; brother, Richard Toohey; and parents, William and Hannah Elizabeth Toohey.
