Terry Murray of Storm Lake was among 23 Iowa Farm Bureau leaders who took part in an Iowa Farm Bureau Ag Leaders Institute trip to Washington, D.C., Sept. 20-23 to learn more about national issues affecting agriculture.

The Energy Bill and the Jumpstart Our Business Strength (JOBS) Bill were priority issues for the leaders.

In addition to meeting with the Iowa congressional delegation, they also met with American Farm Bureau Federal representatives. Craig Derickson from the Natural Resource Conservation Service discussed the Conservation Security Program; Chuck Connor, Special Assistant to President Bush, discussed ag policy; and Dr. Andrew Cupit of the Australian Embassy discussed animal identification issues.
