St. Mary's drops game to Aurelia; AC-T tops Alta

AURELIA - Emily Jipp scored a career-high 22 points and Kim Parker added 17 points and 10 rebounds to help send Aurelia to a 59-45 win over Storm Lake St. Mary's in Northwest Conference play Friday night at Aurelia.

Aurelia jumped out to a 14-4 lead after the first quarter. The Bulldogs led 29-11 at the halftime break and 42-24 entering the fourth period.

Jill Smith added 12 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds for Aurelia, now 5-5 in the league and 5-7 overall. Elizabeth Scharton grabbed eight rebounds. Parker charted five steals, while Jipp, Smith and Lindsey Ireland all had three.

Jill Kestel scored 18 points and cleared 10 rebounds to lead St. Mary's, now 3-11 overall. Megan Kestel had eight points and five rebounds. Jen Petersen and Kassie Drey charted three assists apiece, while Petersen had three steals.

"We came out and played a good game and not having a letdown after the big win on Tuesday night," Aurelia coach Scott Bailey said. "Emily had another good game and I thought we played together as a team."

Aurelia plays host to Granville Spalding tonight, while St. Mary's entertains Schaller-Crestland tonight.
