For the sixth year, the Storm Lake United Methodist Church will be offering the community an interdenominational workshop series, The Divorce Recovery Workshop.
This workshop is designed to help people who are currently experiencing a separation/divorce or recovering from a divorce. The workshop, it its beginning, was the joint effort of former Pastor David Swinton and Beverlye Nelson.
The workshop will be offered at the Storm Lake United Methodist Church, 211 E. 3rd Street, beginning on Monday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m. The sensitive Christian-based curriculum is designed to help separated/divorcing or recently divorced persons find healing, build supportive relationships and new directions in their lives. The topics, presented by video and discussion, will include feelings experienced in a divorce, coping with the past, dealing with anger and depression, caring for kids, handling finances, working on forgiveness, forming new goals, looking at new relationships and other topics pertinent to the needs of the persons in the workshop. Beverlye Nelson, a professional counselor, will continue to lead the workshop.
The workshop is limited to 12 persons. The cost is $10 for the 10-week session. Each evening meeting lasts one and a half hours and child care can be arranged if requested. For information or registration, please call the United Methodist Church at 712-732-5458.
