Police ask public's help to solve sexual assault

Monday, January 22, 2001

The Security Department at Buena Vista University alerted police Tuesday to a reported sexual assault on campus.

A 25-year old student at the university reported that a man knocked on her dorm room in Swope Hall last Sunday at 6:30 p.m. When she opened the door, the subject came into her room and sexually assaulted her while holding a knife on her. The victim suffered two cuts during the attack from what was believed to be a small, dull knife.

The suspect, described as a white male, approximately 25 years of age, is 5 feet 8 inches or taller with a large, muscular build. He has short, dark brown hair, blue eyes and was wearing a black pullover shirt, denim jeans and a hoop earring in one ear. The subject is also reported to be clean shaven.

Storm Lake Police are asking anyone with information on the incident or the suspect to contact the department at 732-8010.
