'Strengthening Families' training set

Tuesday, September 28, 2004

Iowa State University Extension will be offering facilitator training for the nationally acclaimed Strengthening Families program. This program targets families with children ages 10 to 14 and helps to build a positive relationship between the parents, or caregivers, and child. As a facilitator, you will learn to assist families with handling conflict, setting appropriate limits, dealing with peer pressure, and reducing alcohol and drug abuse while building the bonds of a supportive family network.

Opportunities for training in our area do not occur often. This training session will be held in Cherokee at the Cherokee County Extension office, 209 Centennial Drive, on October 12th from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration fees are $225 per individual and will include lunch and appropriate training materials. A Spanish version of this program is also available to all those receiving training for $75.
