Arts on Grand in Spencer is pleased to announce Tom Bruegger, of the Monona County Conservation Board, will be presenting a narrated slide show and lead a brief discussion about the unique attributes of the Loess Hills in Western Iowa.
The presentation will be held this evening at 6:30 p.m. at Arts on Grand, 408 North Grand Avenue in Spencer.
In addition to slides, Bruegger will bring soil and rock samples from the area for hands on learning. Bruegger is a recognized expert in the field and regularly speaks to various groups in Western Iowa about the Loess Hills.
Arts on Grand will also be hosting a gallery reception on Tuesday evening for their current exhibit "Skyscapes and Landscapes: the ever-changing Loess Hills, Those Fragile Giants of Western Iowa." The gallery will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. and the public is invited to attend.
"Skyscapes and Landscapes" is sponsored locally by Northwest Federal Savings Bank and by a grant from the Iowa Arts Council. The exhibit was organized by the Moorhead Cultural Center of the Loess Hills in Moorhead, with assistance by Brunnier Art Museum, Iowa State University and is supported, in part, by a grant from the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Department of Cultural Affairs.
