New course seeks science fiction fans

Tuesday, January 16, 2001

If a spaceship lands in the forest and no one hears it, does it make a noise?

This and other philosophical questions about artificial intelligence and computer-generated simulations of reality will be explored in a new course, Philosophy 250: Philosophy and Science Fiction, offered by Dr. Randy Jensen this semester at Northwestern College in Orange City.

Taking the course for credit will cost $1,080; auditing the course costs $300. Contact Northwestern's registrar Charlie Couch, at 732-7145 or on the first floor of Zwemer Hall for more information.
