Buena Vista County Hospital leaders "have a lot of thinking to do" as they pursue the next round of expansions at the Storm Lake facility, and it may be nearly two years before the ribbon has been cut on the developments, administrator Jim Sinek feels.

The project architect has been regularly visiting the facility to guide planning for the project, which is to include a long-awaited Women's Health Center, a physical rehabilitation department, a connecting link between the hospital and the clinic, and redesigns of the emergency room, business office and lab areas.

The project will not be rushed, Sinek told the Pilot-Tribune this week. "It will be worth the time we take. Drawings are being done of the various components, but the architect is sitting down with managers and staffs of the departments to make sure that space is used most efficiently and that things like patient flow are considered," he said.
