As the weather continues fluctuates widely this season, it's important to give your car the proper care and maintenance to insure a reliable and long-lasting operation during this winter season.
However, most people neglect the few simple things required to keep their car in tip-top shape year around. This is especially true during the winter season, when the most stress is placed upon your vehicle's structure and systems.
"People don't want to get out and check their car over when it's cold outside," Rasmussen Ford service manager Rich Sassman said. "It's important to make sure your vehicle tests properly at this time of year. Everyone should have a multi-point inspection done."
The winter months bring concern for the outside of the car when the sands and salts hit the roads.
"We're starting to see that light colored vehicles are getting rust specks from the iron that the sand leaves on the cars," Rasmussen Ford body manager Ed Weber said. "When the weather warms up it's important to wash your car as soon as possible to prevent this."
Weber said it helps vehicles to have a good wax in the fall and the spring in order to protect the body from the winter conditions. Newer vehicles have a clear coat on them that hold up a lot more in the winter months than the old vehicles do, he said.
