Knights hit on all cylinders in first half en route to 78-66 victory.
STORM LAKE - If Wartburg's game plan was to jump on Buena Vista early and make the Beavers play catch-up the rest of the game, then the strategy worked to a tee.
Wartburg, which entered the game in first place in the Iowa Conference one game ahead of Buena Vista, jumped out to a big lead early in the game and then used a 15-0 spurt later in the first half to take an insurmountable lead and hand Buena Vista a 78-66 setback on Saturday at Siebens Fieldhouse.
The loss was Buena Vista's third in a row after winning its first eight games of the season. It also dropped the Beavers 1 1/2 games behind Wartburg in the league standings.
Wartburg led 7-6 when it scored seven unanswered points to go up 14-6. It was 24-13 Knights when they scored 15 straight points to take a 39-13 advantage late in the first half. Wartburg led 43-20 at the half.
