An accident occurred at 10:25 a.m. last Tuesday at the Family Health Center parking lot, 2015 West 5th Street. A 1995 Ford, owned by Silvestre Espinoza, Storm Lake, was parked facing southeast. A 1994 Buick, driven by Helen Larson, 81, of Albert City, was backing out of a parking space next to Espinoza and the vehicles collided. Damages were estimated at $200 to the Espinoza vehicle and $100 to the Larson vehicle.
An accident happened at the intersection of Geneseo Street and West 6th Street at 4 p.m. last Tuesday. A 1989 Ford, driven by Jennifer Jones, 27, Storm Lake, was westbound on West 6th Street when a 1996 Toyota, driven by Ny Chea, 45, Storm Lake, was northbound on Geneseo Street, approaching the intersection with West 6th Street and the vehicles collided. Chea was charged with 1st Offense OWI and Failure to Obey Stop Sign. Damages were estimated at $2,000 to the Jones vehicle and $1,500 to the Chea vehicle.
An accident occurred at the intersection of Northwestern Drive and Hyland Drive shortly before 6:30 p.m. last Tuesday. A 1990 Chevy, driven by Livorio Carrillo, 32, Storm Lake, was traveling northwest and stopped at a stop sign at the corner of Hyland and Northwestern Drive. A 1988 Chevy, driven by Timothy Brink, 17, Storm Lake, was southbound on Northwestern Drive and proceeded through the intersection and the vehicles collided. Damages are estimated at $300 to the Carrillo vehicle and $400 to the Brink vehicle.
An accident happened at the intersection of Lake Avenue and Milwaukee Avenue shortly before 1:45 p.m. Wednesday. A 1989 Dodge, driven by Velma Lubeck, 69, Cherokee, was westbound on Milwaukee Avenue stopped at the stop light when a 2001 Dodge, driven by Reece Mandernach, 33, Newell was traveling westbound and struck the rear of the Lubeck vehicle. Damage was estimated at $500 to the Lubeck vehicle and none to the Mandernach vehicle.
An accident happened at approximately 9:30 a.m. last Thursday at the United States Post Office parking lot, 114 Thomas. A 1997 Ford, driven by Eugene Gamber, 62, Storm Lake, was backing out of a parking space when a 1999 Jeep, driven by Nancy Paulsen, 46, Truesdale, was traveling northbound through the parking lot when the vehicles collided. Damages were estimated at $100 to the Gamber vehicle and $300 to the Paulsen vehicle.
A hit and run accident occurred sometime between 7 and 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Villager Restaurant parking lot, 421 Flindt Drive. A 1999 Chevy, owned by Vault Company in Des Moines was parked in the parking lot when it was struck by an unknown vehicle which left the scene. Damage to the Vault Company vehicle was estimated at $500.
At 10:45 p.m. Thursday, an accident occurred in the First Federal lot, located in the 600 block of Erie Street. A John Deere payloader, driven by Dave Janning, 65, Storm Lake, was pushing snow in the parking lot when a 1988 Toyota, owned by Syphanhe Saengchanpheng, Storm Lake, was parking in the parking lot and a large chunk rolled down the pile of snow and struck the Saengchanpheng vehicle. Damages were estimated at $700 to the Saengchanpheng vehicle and none to the payloader.
Shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday, an accident occurred at the intersection of East 4th Street and Flindt Drive. A 1991 Chevy, driven by Michael Gessner, 16, Storm Lake, was eastbound on East 4th Street and stopped at a stop sign. A 2000 Buick, driven by Roger Kruse, 60, Albert City, was southbound on Flindt Drive and because of the snow piles, the Gessner vehicle didn't see the Kruse vehicle and they collided. Damages were estimated at $800 to the Gessner vehicle and $500 to the Kruse vehicle.
An accident occurred at the intersection of Flindt Drive and East 4th Street shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday. A 1991 Honda, driven by Linda Nguyen, 19, 430 Seneca Street, Storm Lake, was westbound on East 4th Street, stopped at the stop sign and proceeded through the intersection. A 1993 Oldsmobile, driven by Shawn Siefken, 17, Alta, was northbound on Flindt Drive, entering the intersection, and the vehicles collided. Nguyen was charged with Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device. Damage was estimated at $3,000 to the Nguyen vehicle and $1,000 to the Siefken vehicle.
An accident happened at the intersection of West 5th Street and Highway 110 shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday. A 1995 Buick, driven by Richard Kearney, 78, 105 Spring Court Road, Storm Lake, while rounding the curve, began to slide on the icy roadway, left the road, struck a speed limit sign owned by the State of Iowa DOT and a street sign and pole owned by the City of Storm Lake. Damage was estimated at $1,500 to the Kearney vehicle, $100 to the speed limit sign and $50 to the street sign and pole.
