Storm Lake High School will be celebrating Diversity Day on Thursday, Feb. 15.
The event is held to help the school and the community appreciate and celebrate the diversity of cultures and ideas around them.
The opening session for this year's event will include the S.O.S. Players, young actors performing skits on racism, diversity and violence issues, with music by the University of Iowa Steel Pan Band.
Participants are then invited to choose from at least 10 topics for five sessions throughout the day. Topics will include: Breaking Through Stereotypes, Culture of Poland, Japan and Denmark, Gang Trends Nationwide, Children of AIDS, a Tanzanian Safari and Quinceranera.
All sessions are free of charge and open to the public. Everyone is welcome to come attend one session or all five. Community members are asked to sign in at the west entry of the high school.
