The Hanover Historical Society has received $500 to complete the restoration of a machine shed housed at the Hanover Historic Village. The funds were awarded through the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF) Challenge Grant Program.
"Farm Bureau is improving the quality of life by providing financial assistance to community projects throughout the state of Iowa," said IFBF President Ed Wiederstein. "This support, in conjunction with support from the county Farm Bureau, is creating the opportunity to enhance the quality of life in rural Iowa."
The two-story machine shed was moved to its current location in 1999 and houses agricultural displays and antique farm machinery. Renovation plans include finishing the floor, rebuilding the south wall entrance, installing protective railing and painting the exterior. Completion of the project will provide educational opportunities to area school districts and local residents.
