ACCIDENTS

A hit and run accident happened last Friday between 5:15 and 5:45 p.m. in the Wal-Mart parking lot, 1280 Lake Avenue. A 1995 Saab, owned by Matthew Wallace, Sac City, was parked in the parking lot when it was struck by an unknown vehicle which left the scene. damage to the Wallace vehicle was estimated at $800.

Shortly before 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, an accident occurred at the intersection of Cayuga Street and East 2nd Street. A 1989 Dodge, driven by Adam Chown, 26, 127 Lake Avenue #7, Storm Lake, was southbound on Cayuga Street when a 1986 Mercury, driven by Matthew Todd, 18, 1101 Seneca Street, Storm Lake, was eastbound on East 2nd Street, stopped at the stop sign then proceeded into the intersection and the vehicles collided. Todd was charged with Failure to Yield After Stop. Damage was estimated at $1,500 to the Chown vehicle and $400 to the Todd vehicle.

At 11:48 a.m. last Thursday, an accident happened in the Hy-Vee parking lot, 1250 Lake Avenue. A 2000 Chevrolet, driven by Oren Pollard, 79, Schaller, was backing from a parking stall when a 1999 Mercury, driven by Ruth Tillman, 79, 817 East Milwaukee Avenue, Storm Lake was also backing from a parking space and the vehicles collided. Damage was estimated at $100 to the Pollard vehicle and $800 to the Tillman vehicle.

An accident happened in the 600 block of North Erie Street shortly after 2 p.m. Friday. A 1996 Buick, owned by Dickie Smith of Centerville was parked. A 1988 Chevy, driven by Chris Driesen, 16, of Cherokee, was northbound on Erie Street and attempting to park. Due to the road conditions, when the Driesen vehicle was attempting to park, the vehicle slid and collided with the Smith car. Driesen was charged with Failure to Maintain Control. Damages were estimated at $100 to the Smith vehicle and none to the Driesen vehicle.

An accident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. Sunday in the 1800 block of West Milwaukee Avenue. A 1988 Dodge, driven by Amie Thurston, 25, 106 Memorial Road, Storm Lake, was southbound from a private drive making a right turn onto West Milwaukee Avenue. A 1986 Oldsmobile, driven by Leland McGinnis, 90, 606 Vestal Street, Storm Lake, was westbound on West Milwaukee Avenue and the vehicles collided. Thurston was charged with Failure to Yield Upon Entering Highway. Damages were estimated at $1,500 to the Thurston vehicle and $2,000 to the McGinnis vehicle.

On Sunday at 3:22 p.m., an accident occurred in the 1400 block of Lake Avenue. A 1997 Chrysler, driven by Mildred Waddell, 81, Alta, was southbound on Lake Avenue, switching to the inside lane. A 1989 Chevy, driven by Eric Lampe, 17, Schaller, was southbound on Lake Avenue in the inside lane and the vehicles collided. Waddell was charged with Unsafe Turn. Damages were estimated at $300 to the Waddell vehicle and $650 to the Lampe vehicle.

VANDALISM

Last Friday, Abundio Rivera of Storm Lake reported damage to the front glass window of his home, located at 319 West 7th Street, Apartment 3. Damage was estimated at $650.

THEFT

On Saturday, Jessica Johnson of Albert City reported the theft of a gray purse from Payless Shoe Store, 1290 Lake Avenue. Value was estimated at $25.00.
