Panther softball statistics released

Freshman Abby Richardson emerged the leading average hitter this season for the Storm Lake-St. Mary's softball team, according to statistics released this week by the team's coach, Brad Wild.

Richardson, a shortstop, notched 44 hits in 91 at-bats this season for an impressive .484 batting average. She also led the Lady Panthers in runs-scored with 29, hit 12 doubles, two triples and drove in 21 runs. She also stole 12 bases.

Jessica Lussman was the second leading average hitter for the Panthers, getting 37 hits in 100 at-bats for a .370 batting average. She drove in 22 runs with eight doubles, four triples and 19 runs-scored.

Senior catcher Matty Richardson hit .345 this season, notching 38 hits in 110 at bats. She drove in a team-leading 25 runs and added seven doubles and three triples. Also, Matty Richardson scored 22 runs and added five stolen bases.

Second baseman Danielle Brock hit .333 this season, getting 36 hits in 108 at bats. She tied Matty Richardson for the team lead in RBI with 25 and scored a team-leading 28 runs. Brock drew eight walks and hit five doubles and two triples during the season. Brock added eight stolen bases.

Senior centerfielder Kassie Drey hit .267 this season with 24 hits in 90 at-bats with 20 runs batted in and 16 runs-scored. She added 11 stolen bases.

Senior Michelle Weaver also hit above .300 this season, getting 26 hits in 84 at-bats for a .310 batting average. She showed a good eye at the plate with a team-leading 17 bases on balls and added seven stolen bases, 16 runs scored and seven RBI.

Senior pitcher Maddie Rust hit .280 this season with 21 hits in 75 at bats. She scored 12 runs, drove in eight and walked 15 times.

Colleen Smith hit .247 this season with 20 hits in 81 at-bats. She knocked in 16 runs and scored 18. She drew eight walks and hit two doubles.

Megan Snyder hit .232 this season with 19 hits in 82 at-bats. She knocked in ten runs and scored 17 while drawing ten bases on balls and stealing eight bases.

The Panthers finished their 2004 season with a 17-14 record.
