HEARTSONG AT THRESHERMEN SHOW - The popular gospel music group Heartspell will close the entertainment tent schedule for the Albert City Threshermen Show . The concert is 2 p.m. Sunday, August 15 at the site near Albert City. The concert is free with showgrounds admission.

WITTER HOSTS TASTE OF SL - The Witter Gallery will be hosting Taste of Storm Lake on August 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. in front of Anderson Books and More. The menu includes taverns, chips, ice cream and lemonade for $3. You can add a piece of homemade pie for just $1. Everyone is encouraged to bring a friend to this social event. MARYHILL GATHERS AGAIN - The 86th Annual Maryhill Picnic will be held Sunday, August 8. There will be games for kids and adults alike starting at 2 p.m. and continuing on through the Auction which begins at 7 p.m. The usual fine Chicken Dinner and trimmings will be served from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Serving will be limited to 1,500. Activities include old fashioned games for kids starting at 2 p.m.; Bingo, Cake Walk, Fish Pond, Chuck-a-Luck, Guild stand items including chances on this year's exquisite quilt, plus Win-a-Pig and the Money Jar. Maryhill is six miles west of Cherokee just off C-38.

MONEY, MONEY, MONEY - The 25th Annual Iowa Great Lakes Coin, Stamp, Postcard, and Paper Money Show will be held at the new Community Building in Spirit Lake with some of the most interesting collectible coins, postcards, stamps, and paper money in the upper Midwest. 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday, August 14 and 9-3 p.m. Sunday. Free tours of the Higgins Paper Money Museum in Okoboji. Show admission is free.
